The short version: Klarinotte is provided as-is, free of charge. You are responsible for your own data and backups. We are not liable for any data loss, damages, or losses of any kind arising from your use of the app.

1. Acceptance

By using Klarinotte ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App. We may update these Terms at any time; continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. What Klarinotte Is

Klarinotte is a web-based, privacy-first note-taking application. Your data is stored locally in your browser. An optional sync feature transmits end-to-end encrypted data to our servers. The App is provided free of charge for personal use.

3. No Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantees regarding:

Availability, uptime, or uninterrupted access
Accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the App
Security of your data against all possible threats
Compatibility with your browser, device, or operating system
Fitness for any particular purpose

We do not warrant that errors in the App will be corrected.

4. Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App. This includes — but is not limited to — loss of data, loss of notes, loss of profits, business interruption, or any other direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In particular:

Data loss: Browser storage can be cleared by the browser, the operating system, or by user action. We are not responsible for any loss of notes or data, regardless of cause.
Sync failures: Network errors, server outages, or encryption key loss may result in data being unavailable or unrecoverable. If you lose your sync password, we cannot recover your data — there is no backdoor.
Security incidents: Despite best efforts, we are not liable if your data is accessed as a result of a security failure beyond our reasonable control.

To the extent any liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

5. Your Responsibilities

Back up your data. Use the Export feature regularly. We strongly recommend keeping independent backups of any notes that matter to you.
Keep your sync password safe. There is no password recovery. If you lose it, your encrypted data is gone.
Use the App only for lawful purposes. Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or attack the App or its infrastructure.
You are responsible for all activity on your account.

6. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Klarinotte and its developers from any claims, damages, losses, and costs (including legal fees) arising from your use of the App or your violation of these Terms.

7. Intellectual Property

All rights in the App, its design, and its source code remain with Klarinotte and its contributors. Your notes and data belong to you — we make no claim over the content you create.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Klarinotte regarding the App, and supersede any prior agreements.
